It’s okay to un-plug.

Technology is wonderful.
Social media is a great tool. It helps us to connect not only with family and friends but it provides businesses with a tool to reach customers that they might otherwise not have been able to reach before.

lets be honest though…. our technology and social media can be so distracting and harmful.

for instance like when we are in school and you start texting in class.
or how about when we go out with friends and every single one of us is on our phones…
maybe perhaps its how we just have to instagram that photo of our Bibles and coffee or that delicious meal we just ordered.

Yes, technology and social media bring people close but they can also be very divisive.

As I’m sure you can probably tell, I love photos of the water and sunset. The other day I went to a local park to journal and catch the sunset. As I sat on one of the pillars underneath the bridge I looked around.

Some of the people were there fishing alone or with their families.
Some were crabbing.
Some were laying out on blankets in the grass.
Some were having picnics with their dates or families.
Some were sitting on benches catching up with friends or family.

They were for the most part un-plugged.         They were enjoying quality time with each other.                                                                       They were basking in the summer weather as the sun was going down.

There is so much beauty to be found in each other and in the world when we un-plug. It’s okay to just sit and enjoy a meal and not Instagram it. It’s okay to not take a photo of the sunset once in awhile, and instead just enjoy the colors of the sunset. It’s okay to put your phone away and make eye contact and listen to people.

It’s okay to un-plug. I want to encourage you guys to un-plug this summer. To really enjoy the beauty of spending quality time with family or friends. To enjoy quality time just making memories. To enjoy this beautiful earth God has created.

Establishing that Giant-like Faith with God

We all experience fear.

We all experience doubt.

Maybe we doubt that we know all the answers to that final exam despite having crammed for it for a week. Maybe we fear and worry what our parents will say about our report card.

Or maybe we doubt God is truly there and listening and we begin to stress and worry about what will happen.

Recently I was reading the story of David and Goliath. In 1 Samuel 17: 38-40 Saul pits armor on David to go into battle but what happens next??

David takes off the armor because he hadn’t worn it before. He’s about to go into battle…….and he rids himself of the armor. WOW!

I don’t think I’d go into battle with no armor. Anyone else agree?

David TRUSTED God completely. He trusted God enough to into battle with just a staff, stones and a sling. Meanwhile Goliath is decked out with a sword and a spear.

But is David scared? No way! In fact he gets up to Goliath and starts BOASTING in the Lord. He trusts that God will be by his side, so David is just trash talking. He’s going, “Oh yeah? Well my God is on my side and He will strike you down”

Guys? What if we did this when we did to experience worry, fear and doubt?

What if we BOASTED in God.

What exactly would this look like?

It would mean we have such enormous faith and trust in the character of God and who God is that we don’t worry as much.

It would mean our first response would be to remind ourselves how BIG God is instead of how big our small problems may seem.

It would mean going into prayer first, rather as a last resort.

It would mean having giant-like faith in God just as David did.

Friends, I pray whatever you are dealing with today, that you begin to establish that giant-like faith with God. Know that God is who HE says He is. Know that God is faithful, everlasting and constant. I pray that you begin to seek God in moments of fear and doubt. I pray that you lean on God and establish giant-like faith with God.

Amen.

As always,

Grace and ease,

//Who// are you?

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “You are who you hang out with”.

This topic will be focused off of that saying more or less.

You start to look like and become what you believe in and who you surround yourself with.

Whatever you start to believe in with all your heart, mind and soul will be distinct to everyone, it will begin to grow roots inside of you.

Likewise, who you surround yourself with plays an impact into who you become and what you start to believe in.

It becomes the root of who you are. It becomes the way people see you. It becomes your legacy on this earthS

So who are you?

Who do you surround yourself with?

Do they race cars? Do they play D&D? Do they like Doctor Who? Do they drink all the time? Are they constantly cursing? Do they read? Do they like to try new things? Are they open or close minded? Are they loving? Are they exclusive? Do they gossip? Are they humble? Are they prone to anger? Are they patient? Do they judge?

What are your beliefs and values?

do your beliefs fall somewhere between legalism, racism, exclusivity, fear, and privilege?…..if so you are probably going to end up looking like a racist, bigoted and arrogant person.

do your beliefs fall somewhere between love, mercy, grace, hope, patience, gentleness, and loyalty?……you will look something like that.

I long to be an example of the love of Christ through my words and actions.

I long to welcome those who are made to feel unwanted, uninvited or unforgiven. Because at the table of Christ we are all welcome, forgiven and wanted.

I long to be an example of love.

I long for my fruits that I produce to be fruits that Christ can use to produce fruits from.
Friends, who do you strive to be?

Grace and ease,

Say whaaaat? You’re an Essential Oils Distributor?

I’ve grown up in a home around essential oils my whole life. My mom has a bucket of a variety of essential oils in her bathroom(thieves, orange, lemon, lavender, etc). You name it and she probably has it.

A few weeks ago I was visiting my good friend, Julianna who threw a Lavender Lip balm Essential Oils party at her apartment. Since then I’ve been interested in joining the Young Living family. As with any decision comes back and forth, “Should I do this?”, “This looks interesting, let me look into it”, “What’s stopping me from putting both feet forward?”

A few days ago I finally decided to jump in full throttle! And I’m so excited about what God has in store for me and how He plans to use me through this!
